The
International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), in conjunction with
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), are jointly
hosting an event on 1 December 2015 to discuss the future of
international financial reporting.
Speakers from the IASB will present the following key areas of their work:
- The agenda consultation exercise, which provides an opportunity
for stakeholders to to have their say on how the IASB prioritises and
balances its work to deliver International Financial Reporting Standards
(IFRS) for the world economy.
- The Conceptual Framework for Financial Reporting — the next steps on this important project.
Speakers from ICAS will then give their views on these projects, as
well as presenting the results of new research, jointly funded by ICAS
and EFRAG, on professional investors' views of the decision-usefulness
of financial reporting.

improvements to IFRS versus fine tuning the standards to keep them fit
for purpose?
- Can financial reporting be considered in isolation from wider corporate reporting initiatives?
- How will the revised Conceptual Framework drive changes in future?
- How can research help to shape the future of financial reporting?
