FASB to Launch Redesigned Website

Norwalk, CT. June 5, 2009—The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) will launch a redesigned website with improved functionality and organization of content. The new site will be available over the next few days under the same web address as the current site www.fasb.org.

A key part of the FASB’s communications strategy, the new website has been in development since 2008 with a goal to provide a more effective presentation of the content, along with improved navigation features for users.

FASB received both public and internal input on how to make the website easier to use. The new site is designed to be more intuitive by offering useful linkage to related information. As standard setting takes on a larger role in today’s economic environment, the organization felt it important to respond with a stronger web presence that increases accessibility to the actions and activities of the FASB for constituents and the general public.

We are still in the process of improving the new site—expect to see minor adjustments over the next few weeks. We are asking visitors to send suggestions and comments about the site to webmaster@fasb.org.

About the Financial Accounting Standards Board

Since 1973, the Financial Accounting Standards Board has been the designated organization in the private sector for establishing standards of financial accounting and reporting. Those standards govern the preparation of financial reports and are officially recognized as authoritative by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Such standards are essential to the efficient functioning of the economy because investors, creditors, auditors, and others rely on credible, transparent, and comparable financial information.
