FAF NAMES JOHN W. AUCHINCLOSS VP, GENERAL COUNSEL;
MATTHEW J. BRODER, VP,
PUBLIC AFFAIRS
Norwalk, CT—June 2, 2016—The Financial
Accounting Foundation (FAF) today announced that it has named John W.
Auchincloss as vice president, general counsel; and Matthew J. Broder as vice
president, public affairs.
In his role, Mr. Auchincloss will have overall
responsibility for the FAF’s legal and compliance functions and will provide
strategic legal advice and guidance to the FAF, the Financial Accounting
Standards Board (FASB), and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board
(GASB).
In Mr. Broder’s role, he will have overall responsibility for
FAF, FASB, and GASB communications, external relations, and government affairs
activities—including executive, internal, social, and web-based
communications.

team,” said FAF President and CEO Teresa S. Polley. “John’s strategic counsel
will be valuable to our organization in supporting the work of the FASB and GASB
in establishing financial accounting and reporting standards.”

diverse background in communications and media gives him a unique
perspective—which will help the FAF, FASB, and GASB as we continue to improve
the way we communicate with wide variety of stakeholders on the Boards’
activities,” added Ms. Polley.
Mr. Auchincloss, who joined the FAF in
May, has deep experience with nonprofit governance, tax, and regulatory issues.
Most recently, he served as general counsel and secretary for Commonfund, a
private, nonprofit asset management firm.
Previously, Mr. Auchincloss
served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York. He
began his career at Davis Polk & Wardwell in Washington, D.C. and New York
City. Mr. Auchincloss received a bachelor’s degree in history from Yale
University, a J.D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, and an
LL.M. degree from Cambridge University.
Mr. Broder brings extensive
communications experience to the FAF. He comes to the FAF from Daymon Worldwide,
where he served as vice president, Corporate Communications and was responsible
for all internal, external, and digital communications for the private-branding
firm’s U.S. operations.
Previously, Mr. Broder served as vice
president, External Communications, at Pitney Bowes, and as a communications
executive at United Technologies. He began his career in journalism and served
as a speechwriter to former Gov. William O’Neill of Connecticut. He holds a
bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University and a master’s degree in
business administration from the Yale School of Management.
