NOTICE OF MEETINGS
OPEN BOARD MEETING
(Board
meetings are available by audio webcast and telephone.)
Wednesday, October 12, 2005, 9:00 a.m.
- Grant
date. The Board will discuss comments received on proposed FSP
FAS 123(R)-b, "Practical Exception to the Application of Grant Date as
Defined in FASB Statement No. 123(R)," and whether to proceed with
issuing a final FSP. (Estimated 30-minute discussion.)
- Useful
life and amortization of intangible assets. The Board will
discuss the effective date, transition, and the length of the comment
period of a draft of a proposed FSP, and whether to proceed with issuing
that proposed FSP. (Estimated 45-minute discussion.)
- Measuring
fair value of certain derivative contracts under Statement 133.
The Board will discuss clarifying the disclosures that would be required
by the proposed FSP. (Estimated 30-minute discussion.)
- Open discussion. If necessary, the Board will allow time to
discuss minor issues with staff members on technical projects or
administrative matters. Those discussions are held following regular
Board meetings as topics come up.
OPEN EDUCATION SESSION
Wednesday, October 12, 2005, following the Board meeting
The Board will hold an educational, non-decision-making session to
discuss topics that are anticipated to be discussed at the October 19,
2005 Board meeting. Those topics will be posted to the FASB calendar four
days prior to the education session.
OPEN FASB ROUNDTABLE ON UNCERTAIN TAX POSITIONS

Monday, October 10, 2005, 1:00 p.m.
The Board will hold a roundtable discussion with interested individuals
on its proposed Interpretation, Accounting for Uncertain Tax
Positions. The list of
participants and roundtable
questions are available on the FASB website.
OPEN MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NATIONAL INVESTOR RELATIONS
INSTITUTE
Friday, October 14, 2005, 10:00 a.m.
The Board will meet with representatives of the Senior Roundtable
Steering Committee of the National Investor Relations Institute to discuss
matters of mutual interest.
BOARD ACTIONS
The Board Actions are provided for the information and convenience
of constituents who want to follow the Board’s deliberations. All of the
conclusions reported are tentative and may be changed at future Board
meetings. Decisions are included in an Exposure Draft for formal comment
only after a formal written ballot. Decisions in an Exposure Draft may be
(and often are) changed in redeliberations based on information provided
to the Board in comment letters, at public roundtable discussions, and
through other communication channels. Decisions become final only after a
formal written ballot to issue a final Statement, Interpretation, or
FSP.
September 28, 2005 Board Meeting
Ratification of
EITF consensuses. The Board considered and ratified the
consensuses on the following three issues reached at the September 15,
2005 EITF meeting:
- Issue No. 04-13, "Accounting for Purchases and Sales of Inventory
with the Same Counterparty"
- Issue No. 05-7, "Accounting for Modifications to Conversion Options
Embedded in Debt Instruments and Related Issues"
- Issue No. 05-8, "Income Tax Consequences of Issuing Convertible Debt
with a Beneficial Conversion Feature."
The Board also considered and ratified the modification to the existing
consensus in Issue No. 05-6, "Determining the Amortization Period for
Leasehold Improvements Purchased after Lease Inception or Acquired in a
Business Combination."

Revised Exposure
Draft, Earnings per Share, was issued on September 30,
2005. Comments are requested by November 30, 2005.
Invitation to
Comment, Selected Issues Relating to Assets and Liabilities
with Uncertainties, was posted on September 30, 2005. Comments are
requested by January 3, 2006.
