2021 FASB Board Meeting
Identifiable
intangible assets and subsequent accounting for goodwill. The Board
discussed the staff’s research and analysis on the elements of an estimated
goodwill amortization model. Specifically, the discussion involved an overall
amortization period estimation principle, a possible list of factors, providing
a cap and floor on the amortization period, and the reassessment of an estimated
goodwill amortization period. The Board made no decisions.
