FASB Holds September 16 Meeting
September 18, 2026
At its September 16, 2026, meeting, the FASB discussed feedback received on several
topics as part of its 2025 agenda consultation, namely (1) transfers and servicing, (2)
leases, and (3) derivatives. Specific decisions made by the Board include the following:
- A project on transfers and servicing would be added to the Board’s technical agenda to address diversity in practice related to applying the guidance on participating interests.
- Projects on embedded derivatives, the definition of a derivative, or other derivative-related issues would not be added to the Board’s agenda. However, the Board directed the staff to continue monitoring related developments in areas such as “derivative contract modifications and the normal purchases and normal sales scope exception.”
- References to “leasing activities” and “leasing transaction” would be removed from the ASC master glossary definitions of “lending activities” and “loan origination fees,” respectively.
