SEC Chairman Announces Further Extension of Compliance Date for Amendments to Form PF
September 1, 2026
SEC Chairman Paul Atkins has released a statement announcing that the SEC and Commodity Futures Trading
Commission (CFTC) have further extended the
compliance date for their February 2024 joint
amendments to Form PF — that is, “the confidential reporting form
for certain SEC-registered investment advisers to private funds, including those that
also are registered with the CFTC as a commodity pool operator . . . or commodity
trading adviser.” Previously, the compliance date was extended a number of times — from
March 12, 2025, to June 12, 2025, then to October 1, 2025, and then by an additional
year to October 1, 2026. The new compliance date will be July 1, 2027.
The primary purpose of the most recent extension is to give the SEC additional time to
consider feedback on its April 2026 proposed
amendments to Form PF (comments on this proposal were due by June
23, 2026). The extension is also aimed at either (1) helping Form PF filers avoid the
burdensome costs of complying with certain provisions of the February 2024 amendments
that may ultimately be amended or eliminated by the proposed amendments or (2) giving
them enough time to comply with the amendments in the event that the proposal is not
adopted “in whole or in part.”
