The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board today announced that it will hold a meeting of its Investor Advisory Group on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013.
The IAG is a forum for the investor community to provide its views and advice on matters affecting investors and the work of the PCAOB. Members of the IAG represent a broad spectrum of the investment community, as well as individuals who have a demonstrated history of commitment to investor protection.
"The IAG provides critical insight and advice on how the Board should accomplish its mandate of protecting the investing public's interest through high quality auditing," said James R. Doty, PCAOB Chairman. "I'm looking forward to a robust and informative discussion of investors' views on various topics and recent Board developments."
Topics that will be discussed at the meeting include:
Topics the IAG has discussed at previous meetings include: audit firm practice and transparency; auditor's report and the role of the auditor; going concern and related global initiatives; the role, relevancy and value of the audit; and global networks and audit firm governance.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at the Hamilton Crowne Plaza Hotel, 1001 14th St. NW, Washington, DC 20005. Registration will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., and the meeting will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It also will be available via webcast on the PCAOB website.
