SEC Names Victor Valdez As Enforcement Division’s Chief Operating Officer

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that Victor J. Valdez has been named Chief Operating Officer and Managing Executive of the agency’s Enforcement Division, where he will oversee project management, information technology, human capital strategy, and risk management among other functions.

Mr. Valdez comes to the SEC from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), where he is the Deputy Director of Strategic Planning and Corporate Programs for FDIC’s Corporate University.  He previously served as the Deputy Director of Strategic Planning and Resource Management in FDIC’s Division of Risk Management Supervision.  He will begin his new post on September 22.

Ceresney, director of the SEC’s Enforcement Division.  “I am pleased that he will take a leading role in the Division’s ongoing efforts to improve our effectiveness and efficiency.”

Before joining the FDIC, Mr. Valdez was an officer of the Senior National Intelligence Service with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.  He served with the ODNI as the Chief of Staff for the National Counterintelligence Executive and Chief of Staff for the Deputy Director for Operations Support, National Counterterrorism Center.  Mr. Valdez also served for over 20 years as an officer in the US Air Force.  During his varied assignments, Mr. Valdez was a special agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, responsible for investigating criminal, terrorist, and intelligence threats to the Air Force, Department of Defense, and U.S. government.

In addition to his undergraduate degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy, Mr. Valdez has earned graduate degrees in international affairs from Saint Mary’s University (Texas) and in military operational art and science from the Air Command and Staff College.  He earned his MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.
