IFRS Interpretations Committee 2013 appointments

 09 May 2013

The Trustees of the IFRS Foundation, the oversight body of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), announced today appointments and reappointments to the IFRS Interpretations Committee (the Interpretations Committee).

Tony de Bell, Reinhard Dotzlaw and Martin Schloemer have each been appointed to serve three-year terms, renewable once.  Mr de Bell is a member of the Global Accounting Consulting Services Leadership Team with PwC in the United Kingdom, Mr Dotzlaw is the Canadian member of KPMG´s Global IFRS Panel and Dr Schloemer is Head of Accounting Principles and Policies at Bayer AG in Germany.  All appointments will commence on 1 July 2013.

In 2012 it was agreed that the Interpretations Committee should broaden the number of accountancy firms represented in its membership.  Consequently, two further appointments to a single three-year rotating seat have been made. Andrew Watchman, Executive Director of International Financial Reporting at Grant Thornton, will take up the first three-year seat on 1 July 2013.  Andrew Buchanan, BDO´s Global Head of IFRS, will take up the second on 1 July 2016. The number of members of the Interpretations Committee remains at 14.  Feilong Li will complete his first term at the end of June 2013 and has been reappointed for a further three-year term.

Commenting on the appointments, Robert Glauber, Chair of the Trustees´ Nominating Committee, said:

"I would like to welcome Tony, Reinhard, Martin and Andrew Watchman to the IFRS Interpretations Committee, and look forward to Andrew Buchanan´s forthcoming membership.  All are well-known figures in the world of international financial reporting and the experience that they bring will benefit the Interpretations Committee in its work.  I am also delighted that Feilong has agreed to serve a second term.

I would also like to thank our departing members Guido Fladt, Bernd Hacker, Andrew Vials and Peggy Smyth, for their service on the Interpretations Committee."
