Maria Helena Santana and Lynn Wood appointed as Trustees of the IFRS Foundation

The Trustees of the IFRS Foundation, responsible for the governance and oversight of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), today announced the appointment of Maria Helena Santana and Lynn Wood to serve as Trustees of the IFRS Foundation. Both appointments will begin on 1 January 2014 and will expire on 31 December 2016, renewable for a further three-year term.

Maria Helena Santana was appointed Chair and President of the Comissao de Valores Mobiliarios (CVM), the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission, in 2007, completing a five-year term in July 2012. During her tenure at the CVM, Mrs Santana oversaw the successful transition and adoption of IFRS by Brazilian public companies. Between 1994 and 2006 she was an Executive Officer of the Brazilian stock exchange – BOVESPA, where she was responsible for implementing the Novo Mercado. Mrs Santana also served as Chair of IOSCO´s Executive Committee and a member of the International Integrated Reporting Council. She currently sits on the boards of a number of Brazilian public companies as an independent director.

Lynn Wood has served as Chairman of the Australian Financial Reporting Council and as a member of the New Zealand External Reporting Board since 2011. From 1995 to 2010 she was a member of the Australian Foreign Investment Review Board. Ms Wood has held senior executive, board and compliance committee positions in the retail and investment management sectors, including with Schroders, Macquarie Goodman Group, GPT Funds Management, Sedgwick, HSBC Bank, BNY Mellon and Barclays Global Investors. She has also served on charity and not for profit boards for more than twenty years.

The appointments have been approved by the IFRS Foundation Monitoring Board.
