Joel Black Named Next GASB Chairman

The Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) has announced that Joel M. Black will succeed David A. Vaudt as the
next chairman of the GASB.
Mr. Black’s seven-year nonrenewable term will begin on July 1, 2020.
Mr. Black is the partner in charge of the audit practice at the accounting firm
Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was appointed to the GASB’s
Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council (GASAC) in 2019. Mr. Black
formerly served on the AICPA’s State and Local Government Expert Panel and its
Government Audit Quality Center Executive Committee.
