SEC and CFTC Propose Amendments to Private Fund Reporting

The SEC and Commodity Futures Trading Commission have jointly issued proposed amendments to Form PF that would enhance the SEC’s and Financial Stability Oversight Counsel’s “ability to monitor systemic risk and bolster the SEC’s regulatory oversight of private fund advisers.” Specifically, the amendments would (1) “enhance reporting on basic information about advisers and the private funds they advise,” (2) “enhance reporting concerning hedge funds,” (3) “amend how advisers report complex structures,” and (4) “remove aggregate reporting for large hedge fund advisers.”
