SEC Issues Proposal on Whistleblower Program Rules
February 10, 2022
The SEC has issued a proposed
rule, The Commission’s Whistleblower Program Rules. The
proposed rule would address “instances when a whistleblower from the SEC’s program
receives an award from another, non-SEC, whistleblower program” and would affirm the
“Commission’s authority to consider the dollar amount of a potential award for the
limited purpose of increasing an award, but not to lower an award.” For more
information, see the press
release and fact
sheet, as well as a statement by SEC Chair Gary Gensler and Commissioner Hester M. Peirce, on the SEC’s Web site.
