FASB Releases 2023 Investor Outreach Report

The FASB has released its investor outreach report for the year ended June 30, 2023. The report notes that the purpose of the FASB’s investor outreach is to enhance its standard-setting process by improving the usefulness of financial statement information for investors. As part of this outreach, the Board seeks feedback from a diverse range of investors, including buy-side portfolio managers, sell-side analysts, accounting analysts, credit rating agency analysts, lenders, and other capital providers. The report indicates that, in total, the Board entered into over 435 “investor interactions” over the past year.

The report also points out that the FASB has added three new members to its Investor Advisory Committee (established in 2007), which “works closely with the FASB to ensure that investor perspectives are effectively communicated to the FASB on a timely basis in connection with the development of financial accounting and reporting standards.”
