GASB Adds Project on Infrastructure Assets to Its Technical Agenda

The GASB has announced that it has added to its technical agenda a project on accounting and financial reporting issues related to infrastructure assets. In this project, the GASB will be evaluating options for setting standards that would improve information about infrastructure assets by making it:

• “More comparable across governments and more consistent over time.”
• “More useful for making decisions and assessing government accountability.”
• “More relevant to assessments of a government’s economic condition.”
• “Better reflect the capacity of those assets to provide service and how that capacity may change over time.”
