FASB’s Investor Advisory Committee Holds May 16 Meeting

The FASB’s Investor Advisory Committee (IAC) held a meeting on May 16, 2024. Topics
addressed at the meeting included the following:
- Emerging issues and trends, including “the effect of hyperinflation on a company’s financial results; disclosures related to interest rate risk, deposits, and hedging; shortfalls of acquisition accounting; and emerging accounting issues related to the rise of the private credit market.”
- Updates on current FASB projects, including the accounting for environmental credit programs, the accounting for government grants, and improvements to reportable segment disclosures.
- The FASB’s proposed Accounting Standards Update on disaggregation of income statement expenses.
- Issues related to the accounting for and disclosure of software costs.
- The Board’s research project on the accounting for and disclosure of intangible assets.
The next IAC meeting is expected to be held in the second quarter of 2024. For more
