FASB Posts Meeting Highlights of Not-for-Profit Advisory Committee

The FASB’s Not-for-Profit (NFP) Advisory Committee held its biannual meeting on March
19, 2026. Topics discussed at the meeting included the following:
- Emerging financial reporting issues in the NFP sector, including the “limitations of the current NFP financial reporting model in communicating an NFP’s financial performance and financial health, even after the targeted improvements made via ASU 2016-14.”
- NFP-specific topics addressed in the FASB’s invitation to comment Agenda Consultation.
- Post-implementation review of the FASB’s credit losses standard.
- Certain projects on the FASB’s technical agenda, including targeted improvements to the equity method of accounting, classification of certain digital assets as cash equivalents, application of ASC 715 to market-return cash balance plans, the Private Company Council’s research related to subjective acceleration clauses and troubled debt restructurings, and the definition of common control.
