FASB Requests Feedback on Financial KPIs for Business Entities
November 15, 2024
The FASB has published an invitation to comment (ITC) that requests feedback
on key performance indicators (KPIs) for business entities as part of the Board’s
research project on that topic. The ITC defines a KPI as “any financial measure that
is calculated or derived from the financial statements and/or underlying accounting
records that is not presented in the GAAP financial statements.” Specific topics the
FASB is seeking input on include (1) whether and, if so, which financial KPIs should
be standardized and (2) whether an entity should be required or permitted to
disclose financial KPIs in its financial statements under U.S. GAAP.
