PCAOB Holds Conference on Auditing and Capital Markets

On September 10–11, 2026, the PCAOB held its 13th annual Conference on Auditing and Capital Markets, which the Board describes as “an event designed to foster rigorous economic research on audit-related topics, including the economic impact of auditing, audit regulation, and audit oversight on capital markets.” The meeting discussion included a presentation of 10 research papers that the Board had selected after a blind review. Topics addressed in the papers included audit oversight and ownership, audit technology and innovation, audit partners and audit quality, spillover effects of PCAOB oversight, and disclosures and audits in capital markets.
